Major investigation reveals scientists at a high-security lab worked ‘alongside’ the Chinese ‘military’
President Xi Jinping and China’s ruling Communist Party covered up the leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology that unleashed the Covid-19 outbreak in late 2019.
A major investigation has revealed scientists at the high-security lab in the sprawling Chinese city worked “alongside the military” splicing “the world’s most deadly coronaviruses.”
The goal was to “create a new mutant” pathogen “just as the pandemic began” in Wuhan, The Sunday Times’ award-winning Insight team has uncovered.
Instead, “the covert project of dangerous experiments” ended up triggering the pandemic in early 2020. It went on to kill nearly seven million people across the world as Xi’s regime repeatedly denied responsibility for the global disaster.
“Even before the West was told a mysterious virus was killing people in Wuhan, the Chinese authorities were beginning an information clampdown,” The Sunday Times reported at the weekend.
“On November 19, [2019] the safety director of the Chinese Academy of Sciences made a visit, according to the institute’s website. He addressed a meeting of the institute’s leadership with important ‘oral and written’ instructions from Xi Jinping regarding ‘a complex and grave situation,’” the newspaper stated.

The cost of a cover-up:
- Worldwide, more than 767 million people have been infected.
- Financially, the cost to the global economy will reach US$12.5 trillion.
- The eye-watering numbers were released by the International Monetary Fund last year.
- But that figure looks certain to rise.
Delve deeper: In a Federal Bureau of Investigation tweet, FBI Director Christopher Wray said in March that Covid-19 probably originated in a Wuhan lab “incident.” During the past three years, the evidence of a cover-up has been growing.
View from The Hill: “Even today, by covering up the truth, Xi disrespects the memory of the people who have died,” Brahma Chellaney, a geostrategist and a professor of strategic studies at the Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi, said in a commentary for The Hill in 2022.
Big picture: There have also been allegations that the Chinese military was involved in the Wuhan project to create “biological weapons and vaccines,” a US investigator said as reported by The Sunday Times.
China Factor comment: Beijing has done everything in its power to block and bury the truth behind the origins of the Covid-19 catastrophe. Data has mysteriously disappeared while a second phase investigation in China by the World Health Organization was shelved.
